Task 2 Guidance for Minnesota Candidates
Effective July 19, 2024, the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) adopted teacher performance assessment now includes Task 1 and Task 3 of the edTPA. Teacher preparation providers may continue to require the completion of Task 2, but the Board does not require that programs do so any longer.
For Minnesota candidates who do NOT submit Task 2, we are offering the following guidance.
Context for Learning
Candidates should identify that they have no intention of submitting Task 2 evidence within their Context for Learning.
Under the "About the School Where You are Teaching" section, prompt 4, candidates should type and highlight a descriptive statement prior to their response (see example).
- Describe any district, school, or cooperating teacher requirements or expectations that might affect your planning or delivery of instruction, such as required curricula, pacing plan, use of specific instructional strategies, or standardized tests.

Task 2
Candidates should upload placeholder files in place of their own Task 2 required evidence. We have created artifacts that can be used:
Task 3
Candidates may still be required to submit video evidence for Task 3:
- if the assessment or feedback to the learner is demonstrative or related to learning objectives that are performance-based, video/audio evidence must be submitted.
- if submitting the Physical Education handbook as that field has video evidence requirements for Task 3.
In such cases, candidates should follow handbook submission instructions for Task 3.
If candidates are unable to submit video evidence for any reason, they MUST follow the steps to request alternate to video evidence.
Scoring
Candidates who do not submit Task 2 evidence will receive a "Z" condition code for Rubrics 6–10 and an "Incomplete" for the Task 2 Total. The Total edTPA Score will also be "Incomplete." If Tasks 1 and 3 receive no condition codes, the scores for those will be shown in the Task Total sections.
Programs
Programs do not need to provide a list of candidates who are not intending to submit Task 2 evidence.
