2025–26 edTPA Handbooks

On May 19, 2025, candidates will begin accessing the 2025–26 handbooks and templates in the Pearson ePortfolio system and other integrated platform provider systems.

Handbook and Template Changes

The following changes were made to the edTPA assessment and are reflected in the 2025–26 version:

  • URLP content and Academic Language information (for applicable assessments) have been incorporated into the handbooks.
  • Some academic language terms have been updated.
  • The template content (e.g., Context for Learning, commentary prompts) has been removed from the handbooks, so the templates are the single source for this information starting this year.
  • Embedded video links to candidate support webinars have been added.
  • Overview content and task instructions have been streamlined.
  • There are no longer separate URLP documents and Academic Language Handouts starting this year since this content has been incorporated into the handbooks.

What if I Registered before May 19 and Began Working? Which Materials Should I Use?

In general, candidates should use the assessment materials that are currently available in their edTPA portfolio system (provided by the program, edTPA.com, or their ePortfolio platform provider).

  • Candidates who have already made significant progress, prior to May 19, building their edTPA portfolios with the previous year's handbooks and templates may continue to use and submit that version through August 2025.
  • Candidates beginning on or after May 19 should use the 2025–26 version of the assessment.
  • Starting in September 2025, all candidates must use the 2025–26 version of the assessment.
